Terms of Service
Last Updated: August 25, 2023
Welcome to Tilley Education LLC.
Thank you for choosing Tilley Education LLC. ("we," "us," "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Tilley Education LLC's website, services, and products ("Services").
Please carefully review these terms.
We provide an array of online English tutoring services and social clubs, and there may be additional terms that apply to specific offerings. When you use a particular service from our company, such as trial lessons, standard lessons, or any applications we offer, you are also bound by the specific terms and conditions applicable to that service ("Service-Specific Terms"). In case of any inconsistency between these General Terms of Use and the Service-Specific Terms, the Service-Specific Terms will prevail.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using any part of our Services, including booking lessons, you are indicating that you have read, understand, and agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use our Services.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. All changes will be effective immediately upon posting to the Site, and you waive any right you may have to receive specific notice of such changes.
Services Offered
Trial Lessons
Trial lessons are intended to evaluate the compatibility between the student and our services. After the trial lesson, we will evaluate whether our services are an appropriate fit for the student. We will then communicate our assessment via email to the student. Please note that if we determine our services are not a suitable fit, no refunds for the trial lesson will be provided.
Standard Lessons: Coffee Chat; 16bit Chatter
We offer 1:1 online English tutoring sessions with a focus on sociocultural integration, and other educational material. Our educational framework is designed to advance spoken fluency, comprehension, and functional language skills for daily interactions. All services are delivered via video or audio on Discord and or a gaming console such as the Nintendo Switch.
16bit Chatter:
Hardware and software requirements: In most instances, to collaborate in a game, a Nintendo Switch, Nintendo membership and ownership of the game will be required. Some games like Minecraft can be played and linked across multiple devices. Games offered may change at any point in time.
There is also the option to play separate games on separate consoles without playing together and still chat during the session.
What We Do Not Offer
Accent Modification:
Our platform focuses on teaching conversational English and is not designed to modify or change a student's accent. Accent modification or reduction requires the expertise of a certified speech pathologist. If you are seeking accent modification or reduction, please consult a certified speech pathologist or a similar qualified expert.
Grammar:
Please note that our Services are designed to improve your conversational English skills. While you may naturally pick up some grammatical knowledge through your engagement with our Services, we do not explicitly teach English grammar. Our curriculum and teaching methods are oriented towards facilitating spoken fluency, comprehension, and practical language usage in everyday conversations.
Writing, Exam Preparation and Document Correction
We do not offer instruction in writing skills. Additionally, our curriculum is not designed for exam preparation, such as for IELTS or other standardized language tests. We also do not offer services to correct written documents, essays, or other types of written work. Our focus is solely on facilitating spoken language proficiency and comprehension. If you are seeking assistance in these other areas, we recommend considering specialized service providers.
A1-B1 Students
We target our educational services toward learners with English language skills in the B2 to C2 range, as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This specialized focus enables us to offer advanced and nuanced content, including complex vocabulary and higher-level language skills. As a result, our courses are not structured to accommodate the learning needs of individuals at the A1 to B1 proficiency levels, who may find the advanced material challenging.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use our Services. Our Services are designed exclusively for adults. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
English Proficiency Requirement
To ensure the quality and effectiveness of our courses and tutoring sessions, we require that all students have an English proficiency level between B2-C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). By registering for our Services, you represent and warrant that your English proficiency meets this requirement. If it is determined during this initial evaluation in the trial lesson that the student’s English proficiency does not meet the B2-C2 requirement, we reserve the right to not continue with their enrollment in our Services. Should this occur, the student will be notified via email, and no refund will be issued.
User Accounts
Registration
Students may need to register for an account to use certain features of our Services. Students are responsible for keeping their account password secure.
Booking Procedures
All lesson bookings must be made through our designated Acuity Scheduling Calendar available on our website. No other forms of booking, whether through email, text, or other communication methods, will be considered valid or recognized.
Coffee Chat: To initiate the booking process, students must use the designated contact form available on our website. All fields in the contact form must be accurately filled out, including information about the student's learning goals and their CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) level. In the message box provided, students are required to introduce themselves, mentioning their hobbies, job, or other relevant personal details. Failure to accurately complete the form may either delay your booking or result in the application being rejected.
Lesson Policies
Cancelations and Rescheduling
Rescheduling options are available within 24 hours of the lesson. Frequent rescheduling may lead to the loss of eligibility for rescheduling future lessons. If the student cannot attend a class or meeting, they must cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time. For first-time class purchases, cancellation must be requested within 24 hours of the initial purchase for eligibility under our terms of service to receive a refund.
For exceptions such as illness and family emergencies, kindly consult our Refund Policy at: http://www.tilleyeducation.com/refundpolicy
Attendance:
Lessons provided through our Services vary from 30 minutes, 45 minutes, to 60 minutes in length. If a student arrives late to a lesson, they forfeit the time missed. For example, if a student is 10 minutes late to a 45-minute lesson, the remaining lesson duration will be 35 minutes. The lesson will not be extended to compensate for the time lost due to tardiness. By booking a lesson, the student acknowledges that arriving late diminishes the effectiveness and efficiency of the educational experience.
No-Shows
Failure to attend a scheduled lesson without prior cancellation ("no-show") is a breach of these Terms. No-shows may result in immediate termination of services, including any pre-paid lessons, without the issuance of a refund. We reserve the right to determine, at our sole discretion, what constitutes a no-show and take appropriate action.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate a student’s account and deny access to Services for any reason, including violation of these Terms.

Disclaimers:
Restricted Topics in Lessons

We expressly prohibit the discussion of sensitive topics such as religious debates, political controversies, domestic disputes, and matters related to war. The focus of our lessons is to enhance spoken fluency and comprehension in everyday conversational language, and we believe that avoiding these sensitive subjects helps maintain a neutral and conducive educational setting for all involved. Students who persistently bring up or discuss these restricted topics may be subject to permanent removal from our lessons, without the option for a refund.
Notification of Termination for Violations
In the event that a student is found to be in violation of our Terms of Service, we will take appropriate measures to address such misconduct. The offending student will be formally notified of their removal from our services via email. This email will outline the specific violations that led to the termination and will serve as the official notice of revocation of access to our lessons. There will be no provision for refunding payments made for services rendered up to that point.
